ENGINE PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION
The only way to confirm a rebuilt engine performs to specification before it returns to the field. Controlled, data-driven testing for heavy diesel equipment across Gauteng.

ENGINE LOAD TESTING GAUTENG
A dynamometer test places a rebuilt or repaired engine under measured, controlled load conditions to verify that it produces the correct power output, torque, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel consumption figures across its operating range. It is the only reliable way to confirm that an engine overhaul has been completed to specification before the machine is returned to production.
For heavy diesel machinery operating in Gautengβs demanding environment β the consequences of returning an underperforming engine to service can be severe. Unexpected breakdowns translate directly into project delays, penalty clauses, hire costs for replacement plant, and the additional labour of a second teardown.
DIESEL ENGINE DYNO TESTING GAUTENG
Our dynamometer testing is not limited to one or two popular brands β we test and verify performance across the full range of engines we rebuild and overhaul.
HOW IT WORKS
Review rebuild documentation, confirm all fluids, belts, filters, and ancillaries are correctly installed. Verify no active fault codes before load testing begins.
Engine brought to operating temperature under light controlled load. Thermostat, oil system, and injection system reach steady-state before data recording begins.
Load applied progressively across the full RPM range. Power output, torque, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel delivery recorded at each test point.
Results compared against manufacturerβs published specifications per engine model. Clear report produced β pass/fail, marginal areas identified, corrective action recommended where required.
Engine inspected for leaks or abnormal signs after the dyno run. Only engines that pass all criteria are cleared for return to service.
WHY CMKT ENGINEERING
We are the same engineers who perform the overhaul, machine worn components, and recondition related systems. When a dyno result shows a torque anomaly, we know what it means mechanically and how to fix it.
Clement Tapera (Automotive Engine Fitter) and Farai Zhou (Diesel Plant Fitter) work across John Deere, Cummins, Caterpillar, Mitsubishi, ISUZU, JCB, Deutz, Weichai, Doosan, and Tata engine families.
Every dynamometer test produces a documented performance report comparing your engineβs results against manufacturer specifications. Supports your maintenance records and any compliance requirements.
Beyond dyno testing: complete engine overhauls, turbocharger repairs, hydraulic component repairs, injector pump reconditioning, transmission repairs, and field breakdown response.
WHAT CLIENTS SAY
Our Cummins QSL9 on a SANY excavator seized up mid-project on a site in Gauteng. CMKT had it overhauled and dynamometer tested within two weeks. The written report showed the engine performing to specification. We put it back into service with full confidence.
What impressed me most was that they offered us a replacement TLB while our machine was in for a full engine overhaul. No downtime on our roadworks contract. The engine came back with a dynamometer report attached and has given us no trouble since.
We needed a 10 ton roller and a tipper truck for a roadworks contract in Limpopo and could not afford downtime on either unit. CMKT sorted both engines, dyno tested them, and provided written reports before handover. We completed the contract on schedule.
We are based in Gauteng and travel to client workshops and field sites across South Africa. If your engine needs dyno testing after an overhaul β or you need an independent performance verification β we will get to you.

COMMON QUESTIONS
A dynamometer test measures power output (kW or hp), torque (Nm) across the RPM range, oil pressure under load, coolant temperature stability, and fuel consumption. These figures are compared against the manufacturerβs published specification for your specific engine model to confirm the rebuild meets the required performance standard.
Dynamometer testing is most valuable after a complete engine overhaul or rebuild β particularly after work involving pistons, rings, bearings, the cylinder head, or the injection system. A routine service interval does not typically require dyno testing unless in-service performance has raised concerns about actual output versus rated specification.
A standard dyno test on a common heavy equipment engine typically takes between two and four hours, covering the warm-up and stabilisation phase, the progressive load sweep, data analysis, and the post-test inspection. Larger or more complex engine families with a wider test point matrix may take longer. We discuss the expected duration with you before scheduling.
Yes. We test engines regardless of where the rebuild was performed. Fleet owners and construction operators sometimes commission independent dyno testing after an overhaul to verify the work quality before the machine returns to service. We will test the engine to the same standard as one we rebuilt ourselves and report the findings objectively.
If an engine does not meet specification during testing, we provide a clear report identifying which parameters fell short and what we believe the likely cause is. If CMKT performed the original rebuild, we will discuss the corrective work required and the cost implications with you directly. If the engine was rebuilt elsewhere, we provide the report and our recommended remedial steps β the decision on how to proceed remains yours.
Do not return a rebuilt engine to service on assumption alone. Get objective, data-driven confirmation that your engine performs to specification.
